Wisdom Wednesday - Rabbi Barry Lutz The renowned psychologist Erik Erikson explored the distinction between mindless and mindful behavior, or as he identified it, the difference between ritualisms (e.g. the mindless way we used to wash our hands) and rituals (e.g. the mindful way in which we now wash our hands). Jewish tradition has long noted this distinction, asking, for instance, that we say 100 blessings a day in order to become more mindful of the many things around us that might otherwise become mindless. How might you be more mindful of the blessings that surround you? Click here for the handwashing blessing shared for Friday night services last week.
