Musical Monday - Cantor Kerith Spencer-Shapiro
"Child of dust, rise above, rise up. For you possess a powerful strength. You have songs of spirit, wings of mighty eagles. Don’t forsake them, or they may forsake you. Seek them, seek them, child of dust, and you will find them immediately.”- Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook

Wake Up Call -
This past week, earthquakes shook our homes in the middle of the night. Thankfully these jolts came without damage but like a shofar acted as a wake-up call, and call to arms. The upcoming High Holy Days prompt us to wake up, be mindful of the blessings we have and boldly imagine a future of peace.
Wisdom Wednesday - Rabbi Barry Lutz
“There were no days as joyous for the Jewish people as the fifteenth of Av and Yom Kippur …” (Mishnah, Ta’anit 4:8)
Today is Tu b’Av! It is a day which, from ancient times, celebrated love! It is a day on which to give thanks for the love that surrounds you: perhaps a loving partner or loving children, a loving family, friends and/or community. It is a day for counting the blessing of love that lifts us up, supports us and gives meaning and purpose to our days. Especially in these days it is good to stop and count the blessings that surround us. Know that you are loved, good, and celebrate this day!
Love someone – in God’s name
love someone – for this is
the bread of the inner life, without
which a part of you will
starve and die; and though you
feel you must be stern,
even hard, in your life of affairs,
make for yourself at least
a little corner, somewhere in the
great world, where you may
unbosom and be kind.
- Max Ehrmann, (American poet, 1872-1945)
